It's taking Kixeye a long time to sweep the winners for cheating, and instead of whining about it for 2 days, I decided to hit someone.
Deciding to hit a player is easy. Deciding what to hit them with, pretty easy. Deciding how much of a big deal to make out of it, and who to include, and how epic you want it to get is another story altogether. Most of all, decide on a goal.
A level 34 super coiner named CHERELY-KMA hit my neighbor last night. A level 34 player hit my level 29 neighbor with raid prize Dreadnaughts (blackships). This clownface turdburglar uses these amazing ships to tear down a level 29 so I decided to take a trip to sector 86 and see what their sector is like. That is, after we sank chereley's blackships while she tried to escape the base.
I aimed to use the same sportsmanship as our friend cherely so I sent 8 fleets to 8 different draconian mining fields, each had only 1 longship. And I hid them under the drac base so they can't be targeted.
I told sector 85 what I had done. No one was impressed.
Then I brought a fleet of leviathans armed with 88 range missiles to each of those draconian mining fields and killed the biggest fleets I could find with them, then picked a fight with a guy that had his fleets scattered around a level 8 salvage. I gave these fleets just as much a chance to win as chereley gave to my level 29 friend. No chance at all.
I updated comms. No one was impressed.
I went to sleep with my longships buried out there. And in the morning, I sent my leviathans out to play. I used the longships (one in each fleet, all havoc longships) to scout the biggest targets, to see what weapons they are using. They repair in 1 minute, but its a 10 minute trip. These are scout longships, but can occasionally win vs smaller targets.
I updated comms. A few eyebrows perked up.
One drac base that was hiding my fleet had a half a dozen ships around it... at last, someone gives chase. I put the coords into comms, and updated them. There were a few chuckles. Enemy ships scattered, waiting for me to slip up.
I explained what I was doing to a new timezone of players, since no one was impressed last night. I told them about chereley, and about the lameassery of a 34 hitting a 29, and I tried my best to rally a few of the other pirates in sector to go hit 86 alongside me. Only one person took up arms, and I did my best to back him up... it was then that every big hitter in their sector showed up to fend us off. I threw my fleets at them one by one, and sank a LOT more than they did. I lost all my longship fleets and one fleet of seawolfs.
In the end I sank 50 fleets of miners, salvage fleets, guardfleets and otherwise vulnerable sheeple ships. I had kicked the hornet's nest for sure, because a long line of attackers from sector 86 went to attack Elusive-FU and several of us worked hard to defend his base. We eventually repelled them, but I used and lost all my available fleets for his defense.
When you attack out of sector, expect someone that you attack to complain in their comms, then the sector's biggest players... their sector police, or warrior-templars if you prefer, will come to their aid. They bring their best ships and will usually be a challenge to defeat. If you just want to try out your newest and best fleet, engage your attackers when they come to defend their friend.
But, if you want to make a point to the other sector, to not attack us anymore- sink as many miners and guardfleets as you can. If you don't give them the opportunity to retaliate (you have a bubble and your fleets are under drac bases or docked) it can either unify them, or splinter them.
I've seen alliances leave their sector after a few days of miner raids, and the longer you can keep them living in fear to deploy their ships, the better the effect. The big players can't REALLY do anything to you if you don't engage them in battle, but their less advanced sector neighbors can make their game time unbearable with constant whining and demands for retaliation. Priceless.

Sector 85
Base Invaders II. I never really participated in one before, because I don't spend money on the game, and I refuse to buy a ship just to be cooler than my neighbor. The prize this time is basically a seawolf, with 7 guns instead of 5. Great, another coiner toy.
This sector is totally cool. Haven't had bad words with anyone and there's no in-sector hitting allowed... plenty of salvage to relax and hunt for blueprints.
But y'know, once the raid started I figured I should go see if anything's changed from the last one.
Nope, same fleets and outposts and massive draconian range... same lag. Yep, not gonna bother. I share my disappointment with a few other folks in comms.
I could use some resources so I hit a few smaller level outposts, and I hoped to get a couple quotas done. The quota prize is armor for the base turrets. That'd be NICE!
I aim 8 fleets, each with a leviathan in front, 2 barges, a marauder and a longship. I dont plan on piloting all 8 of the fleets of course, I just don't want to take damage on the big ships, when I can simply throw my instant repair longships and marauders in there, to absorb incoming enemy fire.
"WTF BONDAI!! I didn't ask for YOUR HELP" says some jackhole named Ur_My_B1tch_Now_FU.
Big ocean fella, get over it.
Dude attacked my remaining barge and levi, sunk them easily with his Hammerheads...
I sat quietly in amazement for a moment then said in comms "Really Dumbass? Did you really just sink my fleet cuz I joined a battle with you?"
"I WAS THERE FIRST!!!" He was really making a big issue out of nothing, but it was okay. I told him, in no uncertain terms, that I was going to sink all of his fleets now. He kept telling me how pathetic I am and that I am all talk, just like he thought I was. I gave him my base coords, and told him he can go ahead and try.
He did try, but I launched my seawolfs RIGHT when he got to my base, so while he was trapped in there, losing his fleet (quickly I might add) I sank his HH fleet and his FF fleet without damage.
"Nice Base" he says (I'm wrapping up his second fleet)
I know
"Sarcasm"
After his FFs die he sees that I've sunk his others. He's going OFF so I egg'd him on, telling him how easily I just killed his fleets, and that I'm going to continue sinking his fleets all weekend, and that he's made a mistake.
"Easy to kill fleets that arent piloting!!! Pssy!!"
Yeah, I know.
He docked the rest of his fleets as I chased him back and forth. He's going off, and now his alliance is saying things like "Bondai if you keep sinking him I'll get involved and you don't want that"
Do what you need to do dude. I'm going to keep sinking his fleets all weekend. As of right now, he's the only one I'm after.
"Bondai you shouldn't have joined the battle... Bondai you shouldn't have attacked his fleets... Bondai you shouldnt have invited him into your base like that"
He's lost 9 FFs and 5 HHs so far, and I've lost 3 turrets. I'm grinning, morons. Keep talking.
Several folks in the comms backed me up, and some of them took this other guys side, while their alliance leader is trying to explain how this is all my fault.
"bondai do you want a bubble, to make sure they don't get you"
Nope. If they crater my base, I'll be back in 2 hours, when my dock is repaired. Then this raid will be all yours, without any of their alliance winning even a quota prize :)
classic kixeye form, they screwed something up and the game crashed for a while. I went to go hang out with my nephew. When I came back 4 hours later that guy had logged off. I went to his base and damaged all his researching buildings, and smashed his rocket platform (Long time to repair those).
Again, his alliance got all mad, and I told them how much that bothered me. When that guy logged in again, I sent fleets toward him, and I even told him I was headed for him. He docked his ships and I didn't see him online again. Still haven't.
I won first prize in the raid. Sloaney won second. Another partner in our group, Tokahontis, won fourth. One of the FU alliance members won third place. YellowDevil would have been up there with us too, but he was hunting for blueprints and got the one he was after!
Sloaney, I'm in great mood now, let's go slash and burn 429 again.

Pie Rats
"BONDAI!!!! WTF are you doing here!!???"
Nice, sector 429 remembers me.
"After you left, more pirates came here and we haven't had any peace... will you take out these EXILE guys for me?"
Cool story bro.
A month or so ago I jumped to this sector and made friends with a few of the alpha males before I left. They refused to be baited with my trash talking, and never once backed down when I was attacking. They didn't even whine when I cratered base after base. They said, 'no in-sector hitting'... but what they really meant was... 'please, keep it to a minimum because we're not going to stop you.'
My friends Lonewolf and Stonewall moved to another sector because this one had been hit over and over, week after week and got fed up. So I came back to crater a few more bases without fear of reprisal. I didn't expect to see a bunch of fired up pirates trash talking my old foes and beating me to the booty.
I ignored them at first, and just continued trash talking my favorite peace loving simpleton Navy Marcom. He just loves mom jokes and being the tough guy in his group. Trash talking him is like taking part in a battle of wits with an unarmed man. Exile was already tearing him down, and when I show up with Sloaney and the gang... ready to ravage the women and steal candy from their kids, it was all he could take. Navy Marcom left the sector, minutes later the rest of his moron posse followed, except for one. We kept that guy living in a bubble for the rest of the week.
There were no more sector police in 429, and every day people logged in giving out my coords in comms.
"Why did you attack me?"
Because your square base has all the vitamins and nutrients that my growing body needs.
Yellowstain is a friend of Sloaney's and he's an eager teenage spirit that needs to get laid a few times before he spontaneously combusts. Watching him lose his mind on these carebear, peaceloving sheeple is hilarious. The filth that comes out of his mouth is only equalled by the treasures he brings back to his base. The crew is starting to take shape.
429 never wants to see us again... most of the sector relocated on the second day.
Now, who are these EXILE? I kinda like them.

THOR and the Hackers
Hell_Base called in some help before we left. A group of big boys from another sector. I didn't know much about hackers at the time, and there wasn't much we could do about them. This guy had a ridiculous amount of Floating Fortresses, and parked them outside my base after I talked trash a bit.
Apparently these idiots use a program to insert ships and upgrades into the game at no cost in time or resources. I have seen this in many games over the years, and the type of players that do this are the worst sort. They remind me of steroid junkies that brag about how tough they are. Of course you'll be able to lift twice your bodyweight... you are on muscle enhancing drugs, you moron. When your nuts shrivel up, I'll be givin' it to your girlfriend and mommy.
THOR's account got suspended after he sent his ships to my base. So I sent my longships out against him for 3 hours, and killed all of his fleets, plus several of Hell_Bases fleets (I waited for him to battle someone else then jumped on his fleets while he was busy so he couldn't pilot against me). He was furious and his friends were really laughing at him now.
Another of Hell_Base's friends jumped in, but quickly left when he couldn't engage me in battle. I jumped target to target. Used 2 longship fleets to take down each of THOR's big giant FF and HH fleets. Since my longships have no armor, they repair instantly. I lost nothing but a trivial amount of resources.
I gained cool points and Hell_Base started telling everyone that THOR wasn't his friend afterall, and he shut right up when I told everyone how much Hell_Base spends on this game, and how much he depends on them all to worship his ego and do what they're told. I really upset the power-base in that sector. My job here is done.
C'mon Sloaney, lets rock.

Stealing Sloaney
437 was fun, afterall. After Hell_Base revived his fleets and proved that he was willing to spend as much as it takes to win against me, I started hitting his neighbors' guard fleets. Then I hit all the miners around me. I told each player I was aiming for them next, to give them a chance to move... but since I knew most of the miners are offline I was simply telling the sector who I was attacking so they could start to understand that I was enjoying myself while sinking them all with longships.
After I put Hell_Base in his place a few times, by making fun of him and getting his friends to laugh a little bit, I decided to go hit some adjacent sector fleets with this eager noob who just sank his first FF fleet.
Sloaney was headed back out to attack some more fleets in 436 and I said I'd come along. I sent a longship fleet and a brand new submarine fleet. I aimed for the first FF miner I could find, and sank it without trouble. Just then, another 437 pirate showed up and started sinking ships too. Now there was three of us, sinking fleets left and right... Sloaney killed 1 or 2 then went back for repairs. 15 minute trip each time... I was still out there sinking stuff when he asked... what are you using in that longship fleet?
I explained havoc torpedos to him, then explained how to stack ships in combat to control them as one, and to stay on the outside edge of range (kiting). He was an information sponge, just the kind of player I enjoy. The more I told him in chat, the more he awakened to the possibilities of the battle game. Hell_Base was forcing the entire sector into being peaceful little sheeple that rely on him for protection. That was ending.
When the week was up, I refused to leave till I asked him if he wanted to come along. I didn't realize at first that he had a handful of other players that would come along too, each of them growing and learning at their pace, steadily behind Sloaney. He has a notebook full of notes. And I have a partner in crime now.

Sector 437. I need some peace, I think I'll be nice and fill my warehouses this week. I'll pass on a little knowledge to these good people before I leave. That was my intention, at least.
I got attacked by a big boy from sector 438, and I chased his seawolf for a minute or so after his base fleet failed.
"That's right you lame piece of chit - keep walkin'. Come back when you can't stay so long"
I do enjoy talking trash to people from other sectors. I know they can't actually read what I'm typing, but there's almost always spies in adjacent sectors and I'm sure some of my remarks get passed on from time to time.
"You talk to much, Bondai" says Hell_Base. Oh joy, an outspoken sector cop.
I'll say exactly what I please when I please and you can click ignore if you don't like it. I'm being peaceful in sector and would rather not be bothered, I tell the guy. I was as polite as Bondai gets.
"I can see we have a problem" he says, as he sends his yellow HammerHead fleet to my base.
I warned him again, and told him that I would sink every fleet that floats within my reach. He doesn't speak English very well, apparently. But I made it quite clear that I wasn't going to cower. He set a fleet outside my base. I said one last time... don't do it. I will have more fun than you, that's a promise.
When he lost 5 yellow hammerheads in my base I laughed at him, and sent a fleet of longships to his base. I sank the next 2 fleets he put out into the water, but avoided the thud fleet he was using. Luckily, he docked it after losing the others. Then I entered his base and threw a rocket at his dock.
He immediately relaunched all the fleets I had sunk after repairing his dock. So, he's either a hacker or a coiner. Good, I can make him look like a complete failure in chat. There's at least 5 players telling him how great he is in comms, and I've already bookmarked their bases. I'm surrounded by players that depend on him to hit the bad guys. But, they've never met me... I don't fight like they do.

Submarines and Havoc Torpedos
Nothing thrilled me more than havoc torpedoes. 75 range? Are you kidding me?
Time to talk some numbers here.
Thud cannons are 49 natural range. With hardbarrel 3 that makes it 73.5.
Cutlass missiles are 72, there were no boosters for missiles yet.
The new draconian D53 Assault Missiles are 74 range.
Havoc torpedoes are 75 range?? Well now, its time to get started on some new ship designs, I thought to myself. I attacked a guy that boasted that he had a full fleet of 4 submarines already. I sent my brand new D33 Assault Cannon barges. I didn't know where his submarines were, and luckily, he didn't know how to use them. I killed them all but my fleet was suffering by the end of it.
Hmm. I saw that his submarines were very slow to turn and very slow movement. Submarines aren't the only ship that can carry torpedoes, so I put one on a gunboat. It did almost no damage, but it outranged almost everything. Hard Barrels 3 (HB3) Thud attackers still caught me, the difference between 73.5 and 75 is just too imperceptible. HB3 Thuds will still kill me. But everything else will sink when they meet this fleet of longships I'm building.
And I might as well research the Predator Submarine. They'll be worth using eventually.
Time to relocate again.

What is a Revenge Raid?
This wasn't the first raid, but I didn't read any forums... not gonna follow posts made by game moderators and developers about what's coming soon, and why I should subscribe to their newsletters and such.
I'm certainly not going to read through the comments section on discussion threads, and waste my time wondering why people whine so much. Their poor grammar and barely biting remarks make me want to smack their mommies and daddies for being so reckless 14 years ago.
The only thing I knew about the Revenge Raid is, it's a competition and the winner gets something. Shouldn't be too hard to win this... my fleets are solid, I have a leviathan as a flagship in all five of my fleets now. Peacemakers and Diplomat Mortars made them heavy, but I wasn't about to upgrade my dock yet. Gotta have priorities.
I attacked a salvage and when I was done, the thing exploded. Prior to this raid, they just vanished. So I sent out my fleets to all the level 3, 4, 5 salvages I could find. They respawned extremely fast so I was gaining resources at an alarming rate. Then I noticed that my fleets were twice as fast to repair. This is great!
For the next two days, I researched everything that I could find that was expensive, and still ended up with full warehouses. Lesson learned, need to upgrade the warehouses some more. I took a quick look at the leaderboards, thinking to myself... I must be in the top 10 or something.
How bout no. I was top nothing, leader of nowhere, in the land of null. I couldnt imagine how these players had already gathered 100 million resources, when I had struggled to gather 20mil. Turns out, they were using Seawolfs and Floating Fortresses, gathering level 6, 7, 8 salvages that I hadn't even attempted yet. Repairs? They don't need no stinking repairs... facebook credits will take care of everything.
sigh. I'll be more ready next time.

Relocate Came Back
The relocate button re-appeared on the outposts and this opened up the game on a whole new level. Now, once per week, we can move our base to another sector... specifically we can move our base next to a friends base in the current sector or in another sector.
Sector raids!! I was still building my barge fleets when relocate came back, but I moved my base to a new sector immediately. When I showed up in sector 426 I wasted no time.
"Why did you hit my fleet, Bondai!!!?"
It's a battle game, dude. I wanted what you had mined for me.
"OH great! We have another in-sector hitter"
...uhoh, I have competition, I'd better go sink the rest of the miners in the sector before someone beats me to it. Thanks for the head's up.
Three hours later there was a dozen ships sitting outside my base. The local big boys didn't like that Bondai was hitting miners. Tracy didn't like that I didn't care that she didn't like it.
"Hope you're comfortable in the bubble, Bondai... you'll be there forever"
Yep, it's comfortable. It keeps the carebears out. (scheduled downtime in 10 minutes)
Minutes after the game locked up due to a scheduled downtime, I refreshed the page and sent my thud barges out to meet the neighbors. Tracy didn't log back in fast enough. Every fleet she owned was tasting salt water when she got back on. The other two players were online, and tried to click attack on me a couple times, but then silently went back to their own bases as Tracy's FF fleets were sent home back to back.
"You're a coward!! Hitting me while I was offline... I was having connection issues"
You're a pathetic pirate to leave your fleets outside my base. Don't address me again till you remove some clothes.
She relocated an hour later. This sector is gonna be fun.

Do you know what this means!?
After a couple months in sector 34, I felt the need to stretch my legs. Too bad I used my relocate button already.
But wait, what's this? Seawolf? Advanced Lab? More turrets and terrain blocks? If they keep adding these new game features, this Battle Pirates - Beta game could become something interesting and fun.
I start a dialogue in comms, since most of them have removed me from their ignore list because they didn't like being made fun of and not know it. It's hilarious when their friends laugh at them and they don't know why.
"Bondai, you noober, Seawolf is garbage, it only has one armor slot, you don't know anything!"
"WTF!, Advanced lab? Now I have more things to research! This sucks!"
Your delusions of adequacy amaze me, sector 34. Choke yourselves.
They obviously don't know what this means. The game just got interesting and dynamic. Wonder what a Revenge Raid is... guess we'll find out soon.

Ok, I guess I'll play Battle Pirates
I don't know where my account was born, but I relocated to my kid when I started, and ended up in sector 34, and that's where I decided to play. I was playing with marauders when most of the pukes over there were running around with Floating Fortresses (FFs).
I call them pukes because that's what they were. The FPA (Free-Pirate-Alliance) ruled the sector with an iron grip. I'm a solo player, and didn't appreciate the establishment telling me who I can and cannot hit. So I took great pleasure in stirring them up in chat before attacking with my tiny ships. I always lost, but if you know how to handle the comms, you never really lose. My shipyard has never been idle for more than an hour and my research has never stopped.
I loved stirring them up. A free pirate alliance is like an anarchist committee... carebears, free to do nothing. The alliance was full of a bunch of 'yes men' who worshipped the biggest coiner in their sector. I'm not sure what kinda favors this guy had given them before I showed up. I suspected fowl play. Chickens and bitches.
"No in sector hitting, Bondai!!"
Y'know what? Your insistence only makes my resistance taste sweeter.
After 3 weeks of silence, only occasionally logging in to keep researches moving... I wasn't even sure I was going to play this game. I saw the alpha male in comms, and watched the sheeple flock to him like peasants groveling for copper coins.
"Welcome to my farm list noober!!!"
You don't impress me, FPA.You can only smash my base every couple days, and it will be empty when you arrive.
"When you need our help, we won't be there for you"
I'll never need your help. This is a solo game.
