Submarines and Havoc Torpedos

Nothing thrilled me more than havoc torpedoes. 75 range? Are you kidding me?

Time to talk some numbers here.

Thud cannons are 49 natural range. With hardbarrel 3 that makes it 73.5.
Cutlass missiles are 72, there were no boosters for missiles yet.
The new draconian D53 Assault Missiles are 74 range.

Havoc torpedoes are 75 range?? Well now, its time to get started on some new ship designs, I thought to myself. I attacked a guy that boasted that he had a full fleet of 4 submarines already. I sent my brand new D33 Assault Cannon barges. I didn't know where his submarines were, and luckily, he didn't know how to use them. I killed them all but my fleet was suffering by the end of it.

Hmm. I saw that his submarines were very slow to turn and very slow movement. Submarines aren't the only ship that can carry torpedoes, so I put one on a gunboat. It did almost no damage, but it outranged almost everything. Hard Barrels 3 (HB3) Thud attackers still caught me, the difference between 73.5 and 75 is just too imperceptible. HB3 Thuds will still kill me. But everything else will sink when they meet this fleet of longships I'm building.
And I might as well research the Predator Submarine. They'll be worth using eventually.

Time to relocate again.
